We were sad to hear that famous actress and Broadway star Elaine Stritch passed away on Thursday July 17th.  Stritch was 89 years old when she passed away in her home in Birmingham, Michigan from natural causes. Best known for her Broadway career that spanned nearly 70 years, Stritch was most recently known for her recurring role on the NBC show 30 Rock as the outspoken mother of Alec Baldwin’s character.

Making her Broadway debut in the 40’s, Stritch’s long career had earned her multiple Tony Awards nominations winning one for her famous one-woman show Elaine Stritch at Liberty. In addition, she also won several Emmys for her one-woman show as well as winning Emmys for her guest appearances on both Law & Order and 30 Rock.

Stritch was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame back in 1995 and was recognized as a true pioneer in theater for her honest and boisterous attitude both on and off the stage and screen.
